My first timelapse attempt. Shot near Volcan de San Jose in Chile. 24 fps. 1oo f16. Nikon D90
I forgot to turn the auto-white balance and autofocus off. As a result, there are bright frames and slight variations in the mountain positions.

I revisited the same mountain range later in my trip, partly because it was beautiful there, but partly because I wanted to get this timelapse thing down. I fixed my previous errors but at the same time I also made new ones. Every 20 minutes or so, I was checking the image preview on my camera to make sure the lighting was right, but in doing so the image stabilization was reset and the next frame shifted. I had to go through all the photos and delete the odd ball frames that didn't align with the others, making this video a little choppy. See 'Timelapse 1' for my previous attempt. My trail & error method to learning timelapse photography meant many opportunistic shots in South America were ruined, but I'm still happy I now know the basics which I can use later this summer in Canada.
